DIY: Teacup Lamp

Hey there! This week's been so stressful but overall it's going well! I finished a couple projects that were looming over my head, I need to finish a couple more and then I'm done. One of those projects was my lamp for 3d design and it's finally finished! I posted pictures below so go ahead and read on and look at how I made it. :)

Exciting things from this week:
- I finished all my big art projects!
- I shot my very first nude photoshoot! I think it turned out great, and no, it's not pornographic.
- My 19th birthday is tomorrow!
- I'm going home to celebrate said birthday, soo excited.
- I have a big photoshoot planned for Saturday with 2 other photographers and 2 models. It's gonna rock.
- Photographer Andy Bloxham is doing a workshop at my school tomorrow, super excited to go to that.

Class: 3d Design
Assignment: Design and construct a lamp.
Requirements: Has to turn on. Has to be linear
Time limit: About 2 weeks.
Inspiration: My obsession with teapots/teacups and vintage things.

My wiring worked on the first try!

I kept my cups together by sandblasting through the center, putting a hollow rod up through them, and used silicone to glue them together. (There's probably better glue you could use, that was all I had).

I put my practice, smaller plate on the bottom for a stand, then sandblasted another hole through the back for the cord.

Thank you residents of Richfield for bringing your beautiful plates to the D.I.

Next time: Buy my own wire and make it black!

I got this lampshade at the D.I., took off the ugly fabric on it and put on my own. I tried ironing out the wrinkles on it (It had been sitting in my basement forever), but they wouldn't come out... But that's ok since I covered it with lace.

Covering the shade with lace.

Another mistake: Not investing in good glue. But... It worked.

Yet again another mistake.. Not cutting my rod to the right size. It was a bit long so I wrapped lace around it.

My lamp is all complete!

And there's the pull switch to turn it on. :)

I should have taken pictures because I wanted to do a step by step tutorial, but I kept forgetting my camera, so if you want to know how to make one then ask me (lisha_loo3@hotmail.com) or look at these tutorials:
